Vintage 1930's SMF SOLINGEN ROSTFREI Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger-Messer German Gravity Paratrooper OTF Switchblade Knife

This is an official piece of history from D-Day, it is in excellent condition & is a museum piece for any collection

This knife was captured on D-Day in Normandy by Dale Gray 3RD Armored Division.

Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland Ardennes, Central Europe.
Dale Gray Discharged Cannon Company, 273rd
Infantry.  Ft. George G. Meade, MD.
Bronze Star, Purple Heart  Oak Cluster Purple Heart.
This piece was from the estate of Mr. Gray sold to me by his son.  This is a piece of history that has the actual dates that go with the piece and if from the biggest battle of WW2 on the European front.  This knife is all original it has never been used or abused and was preserved and is in excellent condition, it is museum quality.

German Military Paratrooper Search & Rescue Gravity Knife.

Type I Flieger Kapp Messer WWII era (1937 - 1941)

This is a genuine German pilot and paratrooper gravity knife that was issued to the German Armed Forces during WW2.

These models were the early gravity knives made in 1930's to the early part of WW2 before the updated Take-Down model was produced.

This is the standard NON-Take-down version, it can not be taken apart.

Has Solid Walnut Handles

Solid Nickel Silver Bolsters that are fixed.

This blade is stamped with the SMF logo that features the seated king holding an upward pointing sword.


Blade falls out of the handle (gravity drop) and locks with lever.

By flipping the trigger away from the knife and depressing it, the blade can be extended with a flick of the wrist.

By holding the knife blade-up and depressing the trigger a second time, the blade slides back in the handle.

The blade measures approx. 4"

The overall length of the knife open is 10”

Closed is approx. 6".

Trigger Lever is Stamped:  574 2

Has spike and is stamped with German Bird Logo with 574

The marlin spike is approx. 3.5".

WWII German Military issue.

Excellent Condition & Is All Original Nothing Broken Everything Works.
